Dr. Shelby Rookstool

Dr. Shelby Rookstool joined My Family Vision Clinic in June 2019. A Nebraska native, she grew up in North Platte and is proud to serve the communities of western Nebraska.

Dr. Rookstool earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology, graduating cum laude from Chadron State College in 2014. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2019 from Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, Arizona. During optometry school, she was honored with the Kenneth A. Suarez Research Award for her research on blue light.

Dr. Rookstool is actively involved in advancing the profession of optometry in Nebraska. She serves on the Government Relations Committee for the Nebraska Optometric Association and completed the Nebraska Optometric Association Leadership Academy in September 2025.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Rookstool enjoys creating art, traveling with her husband, and spending time with family, friends, and her two pups, Oliver and Charlie.
